Questions & Answers
What is the perimenopause? Is it different from the menopause?
The perimenopause is a period of transitioning towards the menopause whilst the menopause is a point in time, 12 months after your menstrual cycle ceases. The perimenopause can start 6 - 13 years before the menopause (the average age of which is 51 years in the UK) hence why the course is suitable for ladies in their 30s, 40s and 50s.
How do I know if I'm in perimenopause?
Often there are signs and symptoms of this stage of life which indicate that you are transitioning. This doesn't necessarily mean you are suffering with hot flushes and night sweats. It could be changes in your digestion, increased headaches, increased anxiety or mood swings. Feel free to get in touch and ask me about any individual symptoms.
I don't think I've started the perimenopause but want to prepare myself - is the course suitable?
Absolutely! By educating yourself before the process starts is the best gift you can give yourself! You may find you experience benefits in other ways e.g. better sleep, reduced weight, less PMT.
I think I am past the menopause but I still get symptoms. Is the course suitable?
Yes it definitely is! We will cover many strategies that will support hormone balance throughout your whole life.
Will the course involve lots more cooking?
The course will give you the tools and recipes to work towards hormonal balance. These are tools for life, not just for 6 weeks. The course is about making gradual changes, not about doing it all at once. The recipes are simple, effective and suitable for the whole family.
My diet is really good already, why should I do this course?
Thriving in perimenopause is not just about diet. We will be exploring different 'pillars' each week including stress management, sleep, movement, mindset and environmental toxins.
I can't make the 'live' sessions, should I still attend?
Yes! All the sessions will be recorded and guest speakers may or may not attend these sessions. If the guests come on at a different time, all these will be recorded too!
Who are the guest speakers?
I have a range of wonderful guest speakers! Herbalists, GPs, yoga teachers, meditation experts, personal trainers, 'clean' beauty specialists, and some others in the pipeline! There is so much to learn - I am so excited!
Will you be talking about HRT?
HRT is not covered as part of the course materials, however, one of the special guests who is a GP and menopause specialist will be talking through all the options. These will support the diet and lifestyle medicine changes that the course promotes.
Do you use social media for the course?
All of the training sessions will be run through my own client management system and all the online coaching and guest speakers will be through zoom. Communication will be through my client management system or WhatsApp - whatever you prefer.
I have more questions before signing up, who should I email?
Please email me direct hello@melaniefloodnutrition.com
